Gloucester Rooftop Festival in partnership with Strike A Light and Gloucester Guildhall. With the Gloucestershire Academy of Music, The Music Works and The Multi-Story Orchestra.
The Multi-Story Orchestra join forces with singers from local schools for Kate Whitley's I Am I Say. With lyrics by poet Sabrina Mahfouz this work imagines a world that 'beats with beauty' and cautions against human abuse of nature around us.
'A tremendous work for primary schoolchildren and orchestra. Setting Sabrina Mahfouz’s ecologically minded text to catchy refrains for the young voices, it is darkened and deepened by complex but deftly organised instrumental textures that rise to an ecstatic climax.'
Richard Morrison, The Times
The evening opens with Vivaldi's famous theme & variations La Follia performed with instrumentalists from Gloucestershire Academy of Music and a series of arias performed by Multi-Story soloists.
