Teshay Makeda, The Empress Of Roots Soul, is a South London based singer, songwriter and performer who is stylistically in a league of her own. Teshay's Rastafarian upbringing has naturally rooted her eclectic musical style, which consists of Reggae, Soul and RnB. In 2017, Teshay issued her debut EP, Teshay Makeda EP. In the same year, Teshay’s international profile elevated when she performed at the infamous Rototom Sunsplash Festival in Spain, sharing the stage with reggae heavyweight Chronixx.
She has worked with UK artists such as Stormzy, Rae and Bonkaz, where she featured on the latter two projects. She has also opened for Grammy nominated Freddie McGregor and in 2018 supported international talent Jah9 at her London concert.
2019, Teshay has released her debut single ‘OMG’ which has been played on BBC 1 Xtra By Reggae pioneer, David Rodigan . This single is a delightful taster of what is to come from her forthcoming E.P, exploring the divine feminine, Roots and Soul.
DIY disco trio Patawawa have been extremely busy, releasing their debut EP last year, the band immediately broke through with the million streaming lead single ‘Patagonia’.
Hotly tipped by the likes of NME, Line of Best Fit, DIY & Clash and many more, the band have topped the Hype Machine charts several times during the last few months.
Clocking up several million streams across all digital platforms, they’ve earned support from the likes of Tom Robinson and Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music & plays on Radio 1 with Huw Stephens.
