FAMILY FUN DAY!

Start your afternoon the right way: take your pick from free, fun activities to get those energy levels up *and* learn some new skills.

Great for all ages, you’ll be thumping out rhythms and moving to the beat like a pro – as fantastic dancers, drummers and artists show you how to get into the groove.

Forget standing on the edges, clutching a drink, staring at your phone and feeling awkward. Come and get stuck in! Bet you it’ll put a smile on your face.

Art wall

Grab a pen and make your own mark on the venue! Join us in turning the car park into one giant work of art. You don’t have to be good at painting or drawing – we just want to see *your* style up on the walls.

World Rhythm Drumming Workshop with Jon Sterckx
12:30pm - 1pm

Pick up a drum (or a tambourine or a maraca) and see how Jon Stercx – expert tabla player, percussionist and fan of looping, electronic synths – brings your beat together with everyone else’s to create an amazing sound.

UMZIMBA Dance Workshop
1pm - 2pm

Get your knees bending, hips swaying and shoulders dropping, as Miles Ncube walks (and jumps) you through some dynamic moves, putting a modern twist on traditional African dance.

Power by 2Faced Dance Company
Power, the fearless new dance production from 2Faced Dance choreographed by Alleyne Dance, explores our relationship with authority and control.

With abuses of power and domination affecting communities across the world, we look at how power can seduce, shift and shape our behaviour. Performed with live audio description and three explosive dancers from 2Faced questioning: Who leads? Who follows? Who holds the power?

Power contains British Sign Language and audio description using The Rationale Method.

Commissioned by The Elmley Foundation, Pavilion Dance South West, Dance Hub Birmingham, Kala Sangam and Strike A Light for The BENCH (a programme created by 2Faced Dance Company to address gender equality in dance).

SESSION STILL HOUSE LIFT FESTIVAL-165.JPG

Tonight we come together, to look each other in the eye and dance. We have the time and we’re making a space to call our own.

In this explosive outdoor gathering, Bristol based performance company Still House joins forces with the Tottenham-based Steppaz Performing Arts Academy and north London’s music production powerhouse Empire Sounds to create a high-energy night of dance and live music.

Dance party, gig and social, the show is led by an ensemble of young dancers who move across hip hop, contemporary folk and Afrobeats, celebrating community, youth and belonging. This is a show for everyone, if you’re 6, 16 or 60 this is an experience not to be missed!
